Introduction

This guide has been created to assist students enrolled in ADJU14 - Introduction to Corrections. The place to start is your course syllabus! This can always be found in the Canvas shell for your class. If you have any questions you can always ask your instructor. 

If your section uses an OER textbook, there will either be a link to click on or a PDF will be provided to you. Otherwise, the library has many of the textbooks for 2-hour in-library checkout. You can purchase copies at the Viking Bookstore. Some textbooks are available for rent or in e-book form.

  • Identify basic philosophies behind corrections and discuss recent trends.
  • Discuss the relationship of corrections with other parts of the justice system as it relates to its role within the system.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of employment opportunities and entry level requirements into the justice system.
