Homeless/Housing Insecurity Program (HHIP)
While BCC's Homeless/Housing Insecurity Program is not LGBTQ specific, a disproportionate amount of LGBTQ youth face housing insecurity.
To address this need, Barstow Community College is proud to introduce the Homeless and Housing Insecurity Program (HHIP). The Homeless and Housing Insecurity Program (HHIP) is dedicated to assisting students who require stable housing, that way they can successfully work towards receiving a college degree.
Food Pantry
The Food Pantry is not specific to LGBTQ students. Still, LGBT adults living in the U.S. are nearly twice as likely to be experiencing food insecurity during the pandemic than non-LGBT adults, according to survey data from the U.S. Census Bureau.
Barstow Community College is committed to fighting hunger and food insecurity on campus.
Students can receive Food Pantry services by coming to Special Programs and Services (located in the K Building at the center of campus) to receive breakfast and lunch items daily and non-perishable pantry items once per week. In addition, students can visit our weekly Produce Market located inside the Viking Grill Cafeteria every Thursday from 2 pm -5 pm to receive frozen food items and fresh, healthy produce.
