VIrtual Reality & Augmented Reality: Home

A guide to review academic journals and news about this style of education entertainment and learning

Introduction

Augmented Reality (AR): is a type of technology that creates digital images and text on to the physical environment. This is achieved through digital image visuals and sound.

AR uses computer hardware and software, such as apps, consoles, screens, or projections, to combine digital information with the real-world environment. (Investopedia).

This technology is really in its infancy and usually brought to life through devices and smartphones but the real breakthroughs have been brought through wearable AR technology.
More than just a marketing tool, there are possibilities for business, medical, and other fields.

A 360° photo or video is an image that covers 360 degrees of view. This can be achieved by using a 360° video camera such as the Insta360 One X which NIE currently has (from IN-Learning). 360° video cameras capture overlapping fields of view using multiple lenses. Using special software, the different views are stitched together and typically stored in a rectangular frame called an equirectangular projection.

You can use “click and drag” to experience every angle

The virtual reality technology enables viewers to choose where to look at every point, inviting repeat viewings of the video to take in every possible vantage point.
